MOJO The Collectors’ Series: Punk Icons – Part 2 Sex Pistols
MOJO is delighted to present the second of two deluxe bookazines, bringing together its finest writing on the Sex Pistols and The Clash.
In 1976, punk rock exploded in Britain, sparked by the emergence of two iconic new groups: the Sex Pistols and The Clash. Their electrifying sound, look and attitude would transform music and bring a vital new energy and swagger to popular culture – with plenty of anarchy, riots, arrests, bust-ups and bad behaviour along the way.
This second issue of Punk Icons turns the spotlight on the Sex Pistols, the most notorious, outlandish and original rock band of the 1970s. Raiding MOJO’s 30-year archive of exclusive interviews, in-depth features and eye-witness accounts, and illustrated with iconic and rare images, it documents Johnny Rotten and crew’s brief but brilliant assault on the world, from their swearing on primetime TV and creating a furore in Jubilee year with the chart-topping song God Save The Queen, to the making of the legendary Never Mind The Bollocks album, the fatally destructive dug habits of bassist Sid Vicious, and the group’s rancorous split following a chaotic American tour in January 1978. The story resumes with the making of the Pistols feature film, The Great Rock’n’Roll Swindle, and the unexpected reunion in 1996, with all the drama and tribulations that have followed.
SEX PISTOLS is available from January 27, 2022 – and if you missed it, you can still order THE CLASH, which comes in a special gatefold wallet with space to accommodate its SEX PISTOLS companion.
