Land Rover Owner July 2021
Giving a Defender a makeover has been common for years – decades even – but since the end of production, greater numbers of people are choosing to invest in their ‘classic’ Defenders. And that’s exactly what our cover vehicle is: a 1990 model sporting a twin-turbo BMW M57 engine, 6-speed autobox and Harris Tweed interior. It looks the part and certainly shifts.
On top of that, we’ve a Discovery 2 that’s seen an even more significant conversion, being chopped to a truck cab and having a huge crane added to it.
Elsewhere, we’ve our Real World test of a plug-in hybrid Range Rover Evoque, we explore The Valleys in south Wales as part of the LRO Trail, check out a long-time owner VM diesel Range Rover Classic, a gorgeous V8-engined Series I and a stunning Land Rover hearse.
Got a 2.2-litre TDCi Defender and live near a low emission zone? We show how you can bring it up to Eu6 standard, plus how to refurbish a Defender heater – better to do it now, than when you really need it!
And there’s loads more, from great new products to your workshop questions answered.
